SceneAudit
Unreal Engine plugin · contact for accessMeasure the gap your viewport hides.
A panel can look flush in perspective and still float above its surface. I built SceneAudit to turn that guess into a measurement: a placement verdict, a signed offset in centimeters, and orthographic views you can inspect. It gives artists and AI agents a concrete way to check their work.

The side view exposes the separation. A signed offset puts a number on it.

Select. Measure. Inspect.
Select the geometry and its reference surface in Unreal, then run Tools > SceneAudit > Audit Selected Placement. The report includes SEATED or MISPLACED, the offset along the surface normal where a dominant normal exists, and a correction vector. A quad-view PNG adds Front, Side, and Top orthographic views plus a signed-distance heatmap.
02
Made for surface-conforming geometry
Use it for panels, decals, cladding, and other geometry meant to lie against a reference surface. The question is whether the geometry conforms to that surface. A sphere resting on a floor is a different test: most of the sphere is correctly far from the floor, so a placement audit can flag it even when its contact point is right.
03
A measurement with visible limits
Static reference geometry is sampled across its triangles, so a coarse mesh does not reduce the measurement to its corner vertices. Skeletal meshes fall back to a bounding box and are labeled as coarse. Curved or closed reference surfaces may have no dominant normal; in that case, inspect the core verdict and quad view rather than relying on one directional offset.

Start with the built-in placement demo
Create Placement Demo Scene makes a floor and two panels: one seated, one floating 12 cm above it. Audit the floating panel, then the seated panel, and compare the reports with the side views. The editor plugin is content-only, requires Node.js, and has been verified in Unreal Engine 5.8 on macOS. Run Check SceneAudit Install before the first audit.
